Growing up in SE London my dream was to be an artist. At 15 I was offered a place as a full time student at Camberwell Art School, but was heartbroken when I was sent to Secretarial School instead. Now, after many art-less and office-bound years, I find myself living in a season where the lost opportunities of youth are being restored, what the Bible describes as ‘making up for the years the locust has eaten’.
Today a Cambridge resident, with a growing sense of ‘it’s now or never’, since autumn 2016 I have been able to make painting my main focus and can at last legitimately call myself an artist, albeit a self-taught one.
